How to Test Your Touch Screen

1

Open on your device

Open this page on your phone, tablet, or touchscreen laptop using any modern browser.

2

Tap the draw area

Tap anywhere in the draw canvas. Each tap is counted and coordinates are recorded so you can see exactly where touches register.

3

Test multi-touch

Place 2, 3, 4 or 5 fingers on the screen at the same time. The Max Fingers counter shows the maximum simultaneous touch points detected.

4

Draw across the screen

Drag your finger across the canvas. The drawn line shows where your touch is being tracked. Gaps or jerky lines indicate dead zones or digitizer issues.

5

Check for dead zones

Draw carefully in corners and edges. Dead zones at the edges are common after drops or screen replacements. The canvas reveals unresponsive areas clearly.

Common Touch Screen Problems & Fixes

⚠️ Part of the screen not responding

Cause: Physical damage to the digitizer layer, cracked glass pressing on the panel, or moisture inside the display assembly.

Fix: Draw across the screen to identify the dead zone. If the same area consistently fails, the digitizer or screen assembly needs replacement. Remove any thick screen protector and test again.

⚠️ Ghost touches (screen tapping itself)

Cause: Damaged digitizer, wet screen, static electricity, or electromagnetic interference from a faulty charger.

Fix: Clean and dry the screen. Remove the screen protector. Try a different charger — cheap chargers without proper grounding cause ghost touches. If the issue persists without a charger, the digitizer is damaged.

⚠️ Touch screen too sensitive or not sensitive enough

Cause: Touch sensitivity settings are misconfigured or the screen protector is reducing touch response.

Fix: On Android, check Settings → Display → Touch sensitivity. Enable the setting if using a screen protector. On Samsung, go to Settings → Display → Touch sensitivity and enable it.

⚠️ Multi-touch not working

Cause: Some older devices only support 2 or 5 touch points. Software limitations or driver issues can also reduce multi-touch capability.

Fix: Check the Multi Fingers counter in the test. If it shows less than expected, update your device's firmware. Some budget phones physically support fewer touch points.

⚠️ Touchscreen slow to respond

Cause: High CPU usage, RAM shortage, outdated OS, or water damage causing intermittent resistance in the digitizer.

Fix: Close background apps and restart the device. Clear the cache partition. Update the OS. If slow response occurs only in certain areas, the digitizer has localized damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I test my touchscreen online?

Open this page on your phone or tablet. Tap the draw area to test touch response. Use multiple fingers to test multi-touch. Draw on the canvas to verify tracking accuracy.

Why is part of my touchscreen not responding?

Dead zones are caused by physical damage to the digitizer, a cracked screen, or moisture damage. Draw across the entire screen to identify which areas are unresponsive.

How many touch points does my phone support?

Most smartphones support 5 or 10 simultaneous touch points. The test shows your device's maximum touch point count detected in real time.

Why is my touchscreen responding to ghost touches?

Ghost touches are caused by a damaged digitizer, wet screen, static electricity, or a faulty charger. Clean the screen, remove the screen protector, and try a different charger.

Does this test work on iPad and iPhone?

Yes. The touch screen test works on all iOS and Android touchscreen devices in any modern browser including Safari, Chrome and Firefox.

How do I check touchscreen accuracy?

Draw slow, straight lines on the canvas and observe if they appear straight. Wavy or jagged lines when drawing slowly indicate digitizer inaccuracy or damage.
