Zoom audio issues affect many remote workers. Here are the most effective fixes.
Before the Call

Fix 1: Use Zoom Audio Settings

- Select the correct microphone and speaker
- Click Test Speaker and Test Mic
Fix 2: Join with Computer Audio
When joining, always click Join with Computer Audio — not phone audio.
Fix 3: Fix the Mute Issue
- Check the microphone icon bottom-left — red line means muted
- Press Alt + A (Windows) or Command + Shift + A (Mac) to toggle mute
Fix 4: Fix Echo
- Use headphones
- Enable Suppress Background Noise in Audio settings
- Check if the echo is from another participant
Fix 5: Zoom Audio Driver Issue
- Leave the meeting
