How to Test Your Headphones Online
Use a free online headphone test to check left/right balance, frequency response, driver quality, and stereo separation.
Testing your headphones takes less than two minutes. Here is everything you need to know.
What to Test
- Left/right balance — both drivers at equal volume
- Stereo separation — left and right channels are distinct
- Driver quality — no crackling, distortion, or dropout
- Frequency response — bass, mids, and highs all present
How to Use the Online Headphone Test
- Go to miccheckonline.com/headphone-test
- Put on your headphones
- Click Test Left Ear — sound ONLY in the left ear
- Click Test Right Ear — sound ONLY in the right ear
- Click Test Both — sound in both ears simultaneously
If one side is silent or much quieter, your headphone driver may be failing.
Common Headphone Problems
One ear not working:
- Check the audio jack is fully plugged in
- Try a different device to isolate headphones vs port
Crackling sound:
- Usually a damaged cable near the jack
- Wiggle the cable near the connector while playing audio
Low volume on one side:
- Windows balance slider may be off-center
- Right-click speaker icon → Open Volume Mixer → check balance
When to Replace
Replace when: one driver fails, the cable is damaged beyond repair, or persistent distortion remains after cleaning.
